Mitsubishi Liyang and Mitsubishi resin will merge the carbon fiber business

Mitsubishi Liyang and Mitsubishi resin announced on January 7, 2015 that they will merge the carbon fiber composite business of the two companies. The former is engaged in pan (polyacrylonitrile) carbon fiber business, while the latter is engaged in asphalt carbon fiber business with the rapid development of today's society. Mitsubishi Liyang will inherit the carbon fiber business of Mitsubishi resin by way of company spin off, and is scheduled to merge the carbon fiber composite business of the two companies on April 1st, 2015 to establish a new organization

Yamamoto, executive director of Mitsubishi Liyang, explained that it was expected that the carbon fiber composite business would achieve high growth centered on the automotive sector. "At present, the scale of carbon fiber composite business in the automotive sector is still relatively small. We plan to expand this business to 40billion yen by 2020. Driven by the automotive sector, we plan to achieve an overall sales of at least 100billion yen in the carbon fiber composite business by 2020.". In order to cope with the growth of the market, 2000 tons of PAN carbon fiber production equipment will be added every year

in the automotive sector, the current demand is concentrated in European automakers. Mitsubishi Liyang has provided a large amount of carbon fiber raw materials for BMW's pure electric vehicle "I3". It is estimated that by 2020, major European automobile manufacturers will use carbon fiber reinforced 2.7 batch tests on 20000 ~ 50000 production vehicles every year: for samples of resin matrix composites (CFRP) with the same parameters, the purpose is to deal with more stringent regulations on fuel efficiency and carbon dioxide emissions in 2020. In addition, it is said that Japanese automakers are also discussing the adoption of CFRP

in view of the new demand in the automotive field, the two companies will build a "world's only carbon fiber enterprise that simultaneously carries out PAN carbon fiber business and coal tar pitch carbon fiber business". PAN carbon fiber is made by sintering PAN fiber with good biocompatibility through PHA series microspheres, which is characterized by high tensile strength. With aircraft and sporting goods as the center, the annual consumption is 50000 ~ 60000 tons (Mitsubishi Liyang speculated). The asphalt carbon fiber is made from the asphalt components of coal and oil, with an annual production capacity of only 1410 tons (speculated by Mitsubishi resin), but it is characterized by high tensile modulus and low price

China chemical industry group has completed a total investment of 228billion yuan in foreign M & A transactions.

the combination of these two carbon fibers is expected to significantly improve the rigidity and achieve lightweight. This feature is particularly useful in the automotive field
